Info: Working through the Kulture Klub Collaborative, photographer Lauri Lyons and local teenagers are creating Home Is Where You Make It, a mobile exhibition of large-scale portraits of homeless youth. Take in the show and join Lyons for a conversation about her art and her collaborations with young people. Her photographs and essays have appeared in Vibe, the London Observer, and Fortune, and she has shown her work at the International Center of Photography, Brooklyn Museum of Art, and the Civil Rights Museum.

Info: Through a grant provided by the University of Minnesota’s Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program, artist Brett Gustafson attempts to visualize the changing ways in which works of art are being consumed and viewed. Instant access to vast, visual online databases of historically important works of art creates a dramatic change to the creative environment, adding a new dynamic to the artist’s process. Gustafson’s large-scale inkjet prints on canvas are concerned directly with the collision of tradition and art history in the face of a rapidly changing visual web-based culture.

Info: An exhibit of intricate wooden assemblages by local artist Tim Schweitzer opens at the Mill District Arts Gallery on August 14 and runs through September 26. Gallery hours are 12-6, Thursday through Saturday. Closed Sept 5. "The assemblages are made from discarded wood and metal objects that I select from known and unknown destinations of interest. My compositions have a strong design sense. They are rhythmic and melodic. The objects I am attracted to in this series have at some point been used for, or in conjunction with, mathematics, music and engineering."
